How to detox your skin

How to detox your skin

Whenever I’m feeling a bit dull, puffy and blemished, I reach for these face scrubs and face masks to brighten and freshen up my face:

Neutrogena ‘Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Cleanser’

I’ve no idea why blemish treatment products often have such garish packaging, but ignore the ugly tube, as this is a great product. It has tiny micro-beads suspended in a white clay cleanser, so it’s perfect as a gentle weekly scrub, and you can also leave it on for 5 minutes as a mask.

Proactiv ‘Renewing Cleanser’

Uninspiring packaging again, but this popular US range is fab for blemish-prone skin as it has fine grains and gives a cooling feeling when you rinse it off. Technically this is a daily cleanser, but personally I prefer to use it once a week as a very gentle scrub:

Origins ‘Never a Dull Moment’ Skin Brightening Facial Polisher

A classic product from one of the best skincare brands out there, this face polisher is a favourite of Jennifer Lopez, no less! It has a slightly weird but pleasant fruity smell, as it contains finely ground apricot and mango seeds suspended in a papaya gel:

Sanctuary Spa ‘5 Minute Thermal Charcoal Detox Mask’

I’ve repurchased this one countless times, as it is my all-time favourite face mask. You apply it to damp, cleansed skin and it warms up on your skin, and then cools down over five minutes. I love this because you can literally feel the charcoal and clay sucking the impurities out of your skin:

Proactiv ‘Skin Purifying Mask’

I use this light and soothing white clay mask on areas of my face that are prone to blemishes (mainly the centre of my forehead for whatever reason) and my skin does looks clearer – definitely worth a try.
