Make-up & hair for a boho wedding at the Asylum Chapel in London

In late August, I did bridal make-up and hair styling for the delightful Rachel, whose wedding was held at the Asylum Chapel in London: http://maverickprojects.co.uk/. This beautiful, dark old chapel was bombed in World War II and has a faded grandeur that comes to life when it is lit up with candles and adorned with flowers, making it very popular for London brides who want a cool venue with a bohemian vibe and a spiritual atmosphere.

To create Rachel’s natural make-up look, I applied Clarins Instant Smooth Primer and then Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint in ‘Bare 01’ to enhance her porcelain skin, set with the translucent Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder and Christian Dior Nude Tan powder to give her skin a delicate glow. I then applied Liz Earle powder blusher in ‘Camellia’, as this shade is ideal for giving a neutral pink bloom to very fair skin tones.

I kept her eyes simple by applying neutral shades of ivory and taupe and then lined her eyes with a dark eyeliner for definition – Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl pencil in ‘Barbarella Brown’ is one of my all-time favourite eyeliners, as it glides on and then sets to a waterproof finish.

Finally, I applied Bobbi Brown lipstick in ‘Sandwash Pink’ as this creamy neutral pink is ideal for enhancing the bride’s natural lip colour.

Rachel wanted a very natural looking, bohemian style up-do to go with her pretty flower crown, so I curled her hair first, before pinning it up in a natural looking style.
