MY TOP FIVE MAKEUP & SKIN CARE TIPS FOR WINTER BRIDES
Today I’ll be giving you my tips on how to look your very best if you’re a bride-to-be getting married in those chilly winter months…
(1) AMP UP YOUR SKIN CARE
One of the downsides of getting married in the winter months is that your skin may look duller and feel much dryer than it does in the summer.
Combat this by exfoliating your face and/or lips once a week or once a fortnight in the run-up to your wedding. My personal favourite is the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant, but the Sanctuary Spa Radiance Exfoliator is a brilliant budget option:

(2) RE-THINK YOUR BASE
Full-coverage, thick foundation can look rather obvious in cold daylight, so I recommend using a lighter weight base in the winter months such as Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation, which comes in 12 shades.
Or you could simply mix your usual favourite base with a dollop of rich moisturizer or a few drops of facial oil, or just sheer everything out using a damp beauty sponge.
(3) AIM FOR A SUBTLE WINTER GLOW
I’d avoid sparkly or iridescent powder highlighters as they can look rather frosty and fake in cold winter daylight, so instead try a pearlescent face illuminator either underneath or on top of your foundation.

(4) KEEP YOUR FACE COLOURS NEUTRAL
I would suggest using more neutral colours on the face for winter weddings, as anything too warm and bronzey might look a bit too orange in cold light.
If you love a cream blusher, try Stila Convertible Colour in ‘Lillium’, a neutral pink, or if you prefer powder blusher, try Hourglass Ambient Blusher in ‘Mood Exposure’, a subtle plum-nude.
Likewise, apply your bronzer with a light hand, and make sure that it’s fairly neutral, with no orange undertones. On the eyes, a shimmering taupe always looks pretty in cold light, and will complement the whole look.
(5) HAVE SOME FUN WITH YOUR MAKE-UP!
As you’ll be heading indoors when it gets dark early, a shimmery or even glittery eye shadow will look beautiful under both artificial light and candle light – try the gorgeous Hourglass Scattered Light cream eye shadows, or the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows – just sweep across your lids for maximum glam for minimum effort, then add some black or dark brown eyeliner along your lash line to add some definition.
You can also have more fun with your lip colour at winter weddings – a festive scarlet, a deep wine or even a rich berry shade will add a welcome splash of colour to your look, and always complements a white dress beautifully.
